WHAT OR WHO IS PHOCAS?

Workforce Development Board 83 has been awarded the Health Profession Opportunity Grant by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.  WDB-83 wants you to know about this awesome educational opportunity. The program, known as the Northeast Louisiana Professional Healthcare Opportunities—Careers And Support is now simply referred to as “PHOCAS”.

The PHOCAS Project is a five-year demonstration project that will provide 800 eligible individuals with opportunities to obtain educational training for careers in the high-growth and high-demand healthcare sectors.  Sponsorship by PHOCAS also means that participants will benefit from intense case management and a host of supportive services.

HPOG is a study funded by the federal government which is being conducted to determine how these training opportunities help people improve their skills and find better jobs.  During the study, all new eligible applicants will be selected by lottery to participate in these training opportunities.  Not all eligible applicants will be selected to participate in these opportunities.
